The American Court System: Nothing More than an Extraction Process

The American Court System: Nothing More than an Extraction Process
By: Sasha Svoboda
Our court system is a sham and everyone knows it. It is not there to put those who deserve it behind bars. If that were true a large majority of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DEA, and Wall Street fat cats would be in prison. Instead we have the world’s largest prison population per capita and it’s filled with petty offenders and non-violent criminals like stoners. In reality, the court system targets the poorest in society and simply extracts more money from our communities. In reality, our rule of law system is not followed by our government or by the rich. In reality, it is just capitalism at work again. In reality our court system and its judges should be recognized for what it is, an illegitimate authority based on double-standards.
1.     Judges are scum – Judges are people whose only real concern needs to be retaining their petty positions of power. They have about as much legitimacy as a priest who doesn’t practice what he preaches. You are likely to be judged by a scumbag pedophile that likely deserves to be locked up far more than you. Judges have no moral investment in their community; they are not there to help make it a better place. Mark Ciavarella, a scumbag and a juvenile court judge, was convicted of selling kids to the private prison system by using his power to convict them and receive bribes from owners of detention centers. Sometimes I wish hell really did exist so bastards like him could rot in it.
2.     The prison system is a profit system – Nearly 2.2 million people (1 in 100) are behind bars in the United States. An additional 5 million are under correctional controls such as probation. We have more people imprisoned than any country currently on Earth or in human history. Yet the majority of those incarcerated are on non-violent offenses. The CCA, the largest private prison corporation in America, is currently building 10,000 new beds to meet demand in the business of warehousing humans.

3.     The rule of law means nothing to those who claim to uphold it – We have an internationally notorious history of judicial corruption and police brutality. Our government is actively engaged in spying domestically and abroad. Having drones flying overhead and tanks rolling down the streets is considered the new normal in the United States. We are often described by both citizens and observers as a police state. An official report from 1996 states “A safe estimate is that several hundred times every day (easily 100,000 times a year) DO [Directorate of Operations] officers engage in highly illegal activities (according to foreign law) that not only risk political embarrassment to the US but also endanger the freedom if not lives of the participating foreign nationals and, more than occasionally, of the clandestine officer himself.” It can only be expected that number has increased since. Not only are the CIA a national embarrassment, they’re a terrorist organization. If the rule of law really applied thousands of CIA agents would be rotting in jail where they belong or hanging on the hangman’s noose.
4.     The court system is based on PROFIT not JUSTICE – The average lawyer in the United States makes $200-$700 per hour. Prisons get paid based on how many prisoners they house. Our tax money goes in large amounts to jail people of our own class, while the rich class which is decadent, thievish, and criminal sits on top of us all. Cops love the free labour from community service, they will sit around and have a barbeque while you wash the cars we bought for them. Prison labour is booming as unemployment rates rise. The average drug test costs $25 dollars per test paid out of pocket from the convicted and only really can detect marijuana. It is not there to keep people from using drugs, it is there to get you on more charges, extend your sentence, and make you funnel more money into your local court-house.

The United States is a country of double-standards. We have an intelligence agency who has trafficked cocaine, commits murder, and engages in terrorism, but god forbid you steal that bread to feed yourself as the system starves you! We'll lock you away!
